Clinical significance: Pyruvate is the product of glycolysis pathway, which is oxidized into CO2 and water through tricarboxylic acid circulation under normal conditions, so that the lactic acid/pyruvate ratio in blood is maintained at about 9. The measurement of this ratio can predict the severity of circulatory failure. The increase of blood pyruvate is also seen in diabetes, heart failure, diarrhea, severe liver injury, acute infection, etc.

Intended use: This kit is used for quantitative determination of pyruvic acid in human serum in vitro. It is mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of ketoacidosis caused by diabetes.
